Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Ohio

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at The Recovery Village Columbus helps clients transition from living onsite at the facility to living on their own in the community. In an IOP, clients receive several hours of addiction rehab therapies each week to address the emotional and mental impacts of addiction and co-occurring disorders.

What to Expect In Our IOP

It can take more than an acute treatment program or hospitalization to heal from substance abuse. Our IOP offers comprehensive daytime therapy to prepare you for life in recovery.

IOP patients participate in at least nine hours of therapy each week. You’ll meet with medical professionals, work through one-on-one sessions with your therapist, and attend skills-based group therapy sessions focused on developing strategies for everyday sober living.

FAQs About Our Intensive Outpatient Program

How long is intensive outpatient rehab?

The time it takes to complete rehab varies from person to person. However, most patients can complete intensive outpatient rehab in 1–3 months.

Medical detox is not provided as part of an IOP. Individuals who need medical detox must complete that program separately before reaching lower levels of care like IOP.

IOPs help clients transition from living onsite at the facility to living on their own while in outpatient care. It ensures clients have access to all the therapy, medical care, and support they need to prepare for life in recovery. Without this pivotal step, many patients have an increased risk of relapse, overdose and other difficult outcomes.

Transportation is not provided. Finding transportation to get to and from your IOP rehab appointments is your responsibility.

Insurance may cover some or all of intensive outpatient rehab costs. Copays and meeting deductibles may still be involved. Without insurance, The Recovery Village Columbus can discuss a private payment plan with you.

There are several laws in place that protect employees when they attend rehab. Intensive outpatient rehab appointments can also be scheduled around work hours.
